📖  Read of the Week

According to BCG’s Global Payments Report 2025, global payments revenue reached US$1.9 trillion in 2024 but is expected to slow to 4% annual growth over the next five years due to waning deposit margin tailwinds. By contrast, LatAm is projected to lead with 7.9% annual growth in transactional-revenues from 2024-2029. Moreover, payments fintechs generated US$176 billion in revenue in 2024 with 23% annual growth; global real-time, account-to-account (A2A) volumes rose by 40%. This signals that payment-based revenue models, instant payments, AI, and the digitalization of transactional flows are key growth levers—but also that there is rising pressure to innovate, optimize costs, strengthen compliance, and adapt to evolving payment structures.
